Questions We Hear
“Is our data used to train OpenAI models?”
No. Data submitted to Azure OpenAI is never used to train foundation models. Microsoft explicitly guarantees this.
“Can Microsoft or OpenAI see our prompts?”
By default, Azure stores prompts for 30 days to monitor abuse. We opt out of this entirely. Your prompts are processed in-memory and discarded immediately after the request completes.
“Where is our data processed?”
In the same Azure region as your environment. If you’re hosted in the U.S., data stays in the U.S. (no cross-region transfers).
“What if we need compliance verification?”
We maintain detailed logs of data access and model usage. These can be shared as part of our compliance support package.
How We Protect Your Data
- Azure Private Endpoint: The OpenAI service is only accessible within our private tenant, never exposed to the public internet.
- Region Isolation: All data and AI operations are isolated to a specific region (never the “global” region).
- Base Models Only: We do not fine-tune models unless using a fully scrubbed and approved dataset.
